The buzz about the recent awards show has been intense, particularly after host Geoff Keighley posted a mysterious photo of a strange statue. The secret has now been solved. The acclaimed developer is creating a brand-new Divinity game.
Revealed to be Divinity, the game was showcased with a bold trailer that included memorable imagery, from a figure engulfed in flames to an orgy and the very opening of infernal gates.
Moving Beyond Original Sin
Anyone expecting Divinity Original Sin 3, prepare for a surprise. The studio clarified that a direct sequel to its venerated RPGs is not on the cards right now.
That said, the developer referred to this new Divinity as a next chapter of the main series. This distinction implies that the team could be building a real-time experience rather than another tactical title. At this moment, we can only guess, as only a announcement clip is available.
The Legacy of Divinity
The Divinity series is widely praised and it's fair to claim it kicked off the modern wave of deep computer role-playing games. These games are celebrated for detailed worlds, branching plots, and deep class systems—elements that later were perfected in games like Baldur's Gate 3.
While its setting is classic fantasy, what truly sets Divinity apart is the immense freedom bestowed upon the player.
In contrast to modern RPGs have simplified options, Divinity is full of unique possibilities that are viable by choosing a particular class or origin with a personal story.
The series is also wonderfully permissive, allowing players to experiment both in story and combat. Most missions can be completed in a variety of manners, often in unexpected fashion.
- You might progress the story because you remembered something an animal companion shared.
- Or, you could bypass a challenge by teleporting a glob of lava in a inventive way.
More to Come
It is precisely these elements that allow people to label games like Divinity Original Sin 2 as one of the best role-playing games of all time. Now, fans can get ready for another adventure in this legendary franchise.
